Our Brewer's Passion

Heineken Silver is brewed with advanced-brewer technology and using only the purest, clear water, barley malt and hop extract. When our A-yeast is added, this is when Heineken magically transforms into the brew we all know and love. But we adapted our brewing process slightly to create the distinctively smoother taste of Heineken Silver.

We know that consumers have very different taste profiles, and by launching Heineken Silver, we are catering for the consumers that want a smooth beer that has a lower bitter flavour profile. Or for moments where consumers want a less bitter beer, for example, in combination with food.

Both have the same perfect quality and distinctive Heineken taste that has been the signature of Heineken since 1873. However, there are subtle differences: Heineken Original is the classic lager beer, which is famous for its full-bodied taste, premium image and high quality globally. Keeping the Heineken Original’s world class product quality, Heineken Silver has a smoother taste that comes from the signature Heineken fruity aroma flavours, whilst also being lower in alcohol. Last but least, Heineken Silver is brewed similarly to Heineken Original but, to create the smoothness for Heineken Silver, we adapted our brewing process slightly with a specific mashing programme.

Yes. The alcohol volume of Heineken Silver is 4%, while the alcohol volume of Heineken Original is 5%.

No. Heineken has a policy of not using any GMO raw materials.

Beer contains gluten, which comes from the grain used to brew it. Only a fraction of the gluten in the grain gets into the beer – the exact amount depends on the kind of grain used. Brewing beer with barley leaves only traces of gluten in the beer, while wheat contributes considerably more. The brewing process can also affect gluten content. Generally speaking, the clearer and blonder the beer is, the less gluten it contains. Some people are allergic to gluten and have to follow a diet that minimises or excludes their gluten intake. Whether beer can be part of such a diet or not depends on the extent of the allergy and the type of beer consumed. In many cases, lager beers pose no problem for people who have a gluten allergy. However, it is up to individuals to assess their own sensitivity.
